Instagram Stories move to 60 second maximum segments
Instagram is increasingly prioritizing video formats on its platform.
Stories under 60 seconds will no longer be split into 15-second segments, according to an announcement Instagram.
The company began testing this feature for longer, uninterrupted videos with a handful of people in late 2021. Now all users have access.< /p>
Internet users will therefore no longer have to tap continuously to browse a long video that does not interest them.
This novelty could however be perceived negatively by followers of shorter Stories, considered simpler.
The ability to post longer, uninterrupted videos also blurs the line between ephemeral Stories and Reels, the format that aims to compete with the TikTok app.

In June, the company added the support for longer Reels, up to 90 seconds. It also recently changed its system so that content shorter than 15 minutes is automatically shared as Reels.
