The expert explains Apple’s decision bad guarantee of the quality of Intel chips
A former engineer of the company-developer and manufacturer of electronic devices Intel claims that Apple refuses to x86 processors for Apple Silicon due to “bad quality assurance Skylake” reports comments.ua.
In his speech at WWDC 2020 Apple has announced a major two-year transition from the Intel Mac to the Apple silicon. Despite the fact that Apple said the switch has more to do with performance and consolidation of the platform, at least one former employee of Intel believes that this is due to problems with the Intel chips.
Former chief engineer of Intel’s Francois Piednoel said, according to PC Gamer, quality assurance, architecture Skylake chip maker was “more than a problem.” “It was unusually bad. We relied too much on the little things in Skylake. In fact, our buddies in the Apple became number one in the list of problems in architecture. And it’s very, very bad,” said Piednoel.
The transition Apple for the proprietary Mac chip produced over the years. And although for some it may be a difficult road, Apple believes that it will have tangible benefits for productivity, integration and consolidation for consumers and users.
It is expected that the transition to silicon Apple will take two years, and Apple has taken steps to implement the software for emulation and virtualization, to help both developers and consumers in the transition. Intel, for its part, promised to support Apple and its users “in several areas of business” over the next two years.
