Dutch startup Squad Mobility has started taking orders for its Solar City Car. A miniature car can be charged by solar energy. Details are available at domusweb.it.
The Solar City Car is incredibly compact. Its dimensions make it easy to maneuver on the narrowest streets.
The electric car has a two-seat layout. Of the equipment, only the most necessary equipment is available.
Solar City Car is powered by two 2 kW electric motors. They are mounted on the rear wheels and are powered by four replaceable batteries.
The electric car can be charged at the charging station or just sitting under the sun in the parking lot. Solar panels are installed on the lid, which give about 20 km of additional power reserve, depending on weather conditions. Range unknown on a single charge.
The maximum speed of the Solar City Car is limited to 45 km/h. You can drive it in Europe without a driver's license.
The Squad Solar City Car will go on sale at the end of 2023. Starting price $6,700.
