“It's a call to excite the pack”: the slippery statements of Gard MP Alexandre Allegret-Pilot

A publication by the UDR MP for Gard on the X network suggests a call for harassment of a journalist who has investigated him since his election.

“Support for Yvanne (sic) Trippenbach. I'm joking. Let loose. “He who lives by the sword will perish by the sword.” This Monday evening, Alexandre Allegret-Pilot, UDR MP (Eric Ciotti's party, RN ally) for the 5th constituency of Gard, wrote on X, where he is more than active, these lines, with a biblical quote, targeting Ivanne Trippenbach, senior reporter at Le Monde. Very quickly, many reactions were read, the vast majority of them with a feeling of indignation, including on accounts openly marked by the extreme right.

The journalist from Le Monde is currently the target of mass cyber-harassment by extreme right supporters, accusing her of having forced her way in to disrupt Jean-Marie Le Pen's funeral. Which the newspaper's management denies, while indicating “systematically pursue the perpetrators of threats and insults”.

An act of revenge ?

Concerning the MP elected in Gard, she is also one of the reporters who, in 2024, revealed suspicious actions concerning him: a loan of €1.3 million to a phantom company when he was a senior civil servant at Bercy as well as suspicions of abuse of weakness on a winegrower.

Alexandre Allegret-Pilot, refutes “any call for violence or harassment” in her publication, specifying for her part that she calls for “free speech” in the face of “practices” journalistic “unacceptable, this lady is known for that. She caused horror, her presence at Jean-Marie Le Pen's funeral was one horror too many”. Regarding the form of the message: “It was diverted, as often. But I was hurt by this person.” Regarding the biblical quote: “Everyone can look on Google and understand that this sentence means that when you use a means that is bad, it is a means that will cause your loss. This is the case for Ivanne Trippenbach. It is normally CE1 level of understanding.”

A few days earlier, the MP had also announced his intention to submit a bill to regulate “journalistic ethics”. An announcement made quickly after the publication of an article by Mediapart concerning him directly. The media had pointed out the sharing, again on X, by the MP of the “IQ map”, a creation of the late British psychologist Richard Lynn, dismissed from his chair in 2018 for racist positions. The shared “map” highlights a supposed link between intelligence levels and skin color.
