“It's all talk”: Lukashenka avoided the issue of recognizing the “LDNR” and Crimea as part of the Russian Federation

The Belarusian authorities have already de facto recognized “republics” and “annexation” of the occupied Crimea to Russia, and there is no need for a corresponding decree yet, the leader of the country believes.

The leader of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko assured that the official recognition of the “DPR”, “LPR”, and also the occupied Crimea as part of the Russian Federation “will not give anything”, however, if it is necessary in the future, he is ready to issue a corresponding decree. The head of state stated this in an interview with AFP, BelTA reports.

“That is, de facto we recognized that there is Crimea, Luhansk and Donetsk. Because we cooperate with them. And this is all chatter: “Why did Lukashenka recognize it there, didn’t it?.. “It is necessary – I recognize it by the decree of the President. If it is necessary. But now it will not give anything extra … what's the point today, I admit it publicly or not,” Lukashenka said.

< p>The Belarusian leader pointed out that the official recognition of the “independence” of Donetsk, Lugansk, as well as Crimea as part of the Russian Federation, “would not add anything” to the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, adding that the republic is already cooperating with these regions.

< p> Commenting on reports about the possibility of Belarusian troops entering the war against Ukraine on the side of the Russian Federation, Lukashenka also noted that this would not change the course of hostilities. The leader of the republic said that Belarus has weapons similar to Russian ones, while in the Russian Federation “there are enough people to fight.”

“We are simply not needed there now,” Lukashenka assured.

Po According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Belarus may start covert mobilization among its population.
