James Gunn (lightly) teases the development of a new series for DC

The Devil works hard, but James Gunn works even harder. Also, the director revealed that a new series was in development for DC.

The film press can sincerely thank James Gunn for filling three quarters its specialized columns. Since the director behind Guardians of the Galaxy and the excellent The Suicide Squad has been promoted to head DC Films alongside Peter Safran, who indeed spends his time putting the mouth watering for Warner Bros. aficionados. or to deny possible rumors via his faithful Twitter account.

Only a few months before the theatrical release of the third installment of Guardians, (which should sign one of James Gunn's last contributions to the MCU), the filmmaker once again took five minutes of his time to announce on social networks that a mysterious serial project was currently in development to join the DC Extended Universe.

My day: wrote 1/3 of an unannounced DC TV show (????); ok’d 100 VFX shots, did reference acting for Rocket, & gave editing notes for Vol 3; & had two big DC Studios meetings. pic.twitter.com/tmtuTbz1uF

“This is my day: I wrote a third of the script for a still secret DC series, validated a hundred shots with digital effects, provided a game reference for the Rocket character, returned my notes on the editing of Guardians of the Galaxy vol.3, and participated in two big meetings for DC.”

Certainly, the words of the new co-director of DC Films reveal little about the project in question, except that the writing is obviously going well, and that it is still unknown to the public (at the right time). It should be noted, however, that the announcement seems in line with the filmmaker's initial intentions regarding the future of the firm.

Last November, James Gunn actually promised fans “the biggest story ever seen” by committing to stimulate many films, series, animated projects and other video games. The opportunity to finally lead to the famous extended cinematic universe worthy of rivaling with the giant Marvel .

What about the Ezra Miller controversy ?

It is still difficult to estimate if a complete reboot of the legacy of Zack Snyder is to be expected or if it will be more about the Multiverse to justify potential casting changes. With the retirement of Henry Cavill, the abandonment of Wonder Woman 3, and the possible re-employment of Jason Momoa as the alien mercenary Lobo, several major upheavals are already looming for the next phase of DC, and the series teased by James Gunn could well bring its own stone to the building.

But since there is no nothing to speculate blindly, it will therefore be a question of taking your troubles patiently before knowing more. With Gunn recently announcing via his Twitter account that the first official news was due to drop later this month, the wait shouldn't be too long.
