What happened on this day:

Today the Orthodox Church honors the memory of St. Theoktist. He founded a monastery in Sicily and became its hegumen. His monastery became a refuge for a large number of monks who fled from the persecution of the iconoclasts. He died around 800. The people called this day Feoktistov day.
