Operation Fortune: The Art of Winning/Operation Fortune: Ruse de guerre
USA, China, 2022, spy thriller
Premiere: January 5, 2023
Starring: Jason Statham, Cary Elwes, Hugh Grant
A fairly predictable action movie in terms of quality – Guy Ritchie and Statham do not spoil the film furrow. Don't expect any breakthroughs, but you will definitely have fun.
It is known that the film was supposed to be released in the spring, but due to the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine, it had to be edited. The fact is that Ukrainian bandits turned out to be the enemies of the spy Fortune – the filmmakers considered that this was inappropriate and removed the nationality.
So: a suitcase is stolen, the contents of which threaten the end of the world, and Fortune is instructed to return the valuable thing back. The super agent Mi-6 alone will not be able to handle such a thing, therefore the international intelligence service “Five Eyes” is in contact with him. One Hollywood star was also brought in to cover the operation.
“Operation Fortune” is chases, shootouts, fights, parties, crowds of beauties, jumping from planes, explosions and, most importantly, the gloomy and concentrated face of Jason Statham , whose character does not misfire.
By the way, in the comments, people regret that their compatriots were removed. One of the viewers wrote: “The gang of Ukrainians was changed. It's a pity. It wouldn't offend me personally, but on the contrary, it would arouse more interest.”

A Man Called Otto
USA, Sweden, 2022, comedy
Premiere: January 12
Starring: Tom Hanks , Rachel Keller
Otto is a complete grumpy widower who is dissatisfied with everything: drivers, dogs, cats, neighbors. He had these traits in his character before, and after the death of his beloved wife, the ability to see motes in other people's eyes became his second nature.
When new neighbors appear – a young married couple with two children – Otto begins to traditionally get them , and any other people in their place would, of course, explode with righteous indignation. But not them. They have immunity. On the contrary, their total friendliness, humor and love, as it turned out, is impossible to resist. Otto's icy heart begins to slowly but surely thaw.
Tom Hanks (“Forrest Gump”, “Elvis”) at first pretended to be a beech – an actor who has dozens of the kindest characters in his arsenal, but then, of course, he allowed himself to stir up and make more humane. The task for Tom, as for a super-pro, is obviously not difficult, but it's still nice to watch.
