Every December, the White House is filled with festive decorations: Christmas trees, wreaths, garlands, colorful lights, gingerbread houses and much more. Those who wish can come and see this splendor (if you want to know how to visit the decorated presidential residence, – read on).

What inspired the First Lady

The theme chosen by Jill Biden when decoration of the White House, became the first words of the US Constitution “We the people”.

Decorations for 2022 include 25 holiday wreaths, 77 Christmas trees and over 83,000 lights. White House website.

Holiday decorations represent what unites Americans during the holidays and throughout the year.

For example, a copy of the Declaration of Independence is displayed in the White House Library, and a Christmas gingerbread house includes a copy of the Independence Hall building in Philadelphia, where the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution were signed.

This year's novelty was the wooden menorah (the symbol of the Jewish holiday Hanukkah), carved by the White House carpenters.

Her Majesty's Christmas Tree

The main White House Christmas tree this year is a nearly 6-meter Concolor fir from the Evergreen Acres Christmas tree farm in Auburn, Pennsylvania. First Lady Jill Biden continued the tradition of inspecting the tree when it arrived at North Portico in a horse-drawn wagon. A majestic tree was installed in the Blue Room of the White House.

November 30, 2022 at Ellipse will be the lighting of the National Christmas Tree. Free tickets were raffled off in an online lottery at the end of October.
