Justice League: DC's creative director (re)confirms that the SnyderVerse is dead and buried

Jim Lee, DC Comics Artist Emeritus and Creative Director, has again confirmed that the SnyderVerse has no future in the DCEU.

If Zack Snyder has established himself as the rightful architect of the DCEU with his Man of Steel, the sequence of events quickly played against him. First there was the mixed, even negative feedback of Batman v Superman, then all the behind-the-scenes issues that led to Justice League its demise, followed by the the media war between Warner and Ray Fisher (aka Cyborg) and the more or less definitive departure of Ben Affleck's Batman. More recently, there was the problematic behavior (to put it mildly) of Ezra Miller who will soon star in The Flash, the film directed by Andrés Muschietti which will have the delicate mission of rebooting the narrative canon installed by Zack Snyder, also called SnyderVerse by some of the fans.

This movie's promo should be the most complicated in the entire DCEU

Only< strong>Aquaman and Wonder Womanmade the heyday of the studio, but the Atlantean and the Amazon no longer maintain ties with their shared adventures, some elements of the solo films, even contradicting the previous feature films overseen by Snyder. Henry Cavill's Superman has a better chance of returning to Krypton than in theaters and is set to be replaced by Val Zod in a Michael B. Jordan-produced movie, while the future seems to be shaping up around other franchises from the DCEU, including The Suicide Squad, Batgirl or Black Adam which will introduce a new band of superheroes: the Justice Society of America . Suffice to say that all the signals are red about the restoration of the SnyderVerse including Zack Snyder's Justice Leagueserved as a funeral ceremony.

Yet with the release of the director's cut in March 2021 and Snyder's truncated Oscar win (for the public vote), hope has reappeared from the alongside some fans who resurrected the #RestoreTheSnyderVerse. Even more recently, the campaign for the Snyder Cuthas once again found itself in the news, again opening up discussions, complaints, debates, whims and rumors about the making of strong>Justice League 2, as originally intended by the director.

You don't change one that wins…

On occasion from the just-opened San Diego Comic-Con, cartoonist and current DC Creative Director, Jim Lee, has re-re-reconfirmed that the SnyderVerse has no future in the DCEU (but with better chosen words):

I work on projects under development. I think the Snyder Cut was Zack's vision and it was a really satisfying story, but there are no further plans for that material. I was happy to contribute to the presentation of the other elements [editor's note: Jim Lee did storyboards for Justice League 2], it was kind of fun to see all that come out because I did them a long time ago. years. I actually thought it was erased, but they kept it in storage.

For his part, Zack Snyder has migrated to Netflix

Now it remains to be seen how The Flash will handle its Multiverse story and will give an explanation for the disappearance of several heroes. Outside the DCEU, DC can also count on Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson's BatVerse or on the Joker franchise with the development of Joker: Folie à Deux. The next DC film to be released in theaters will also be Black Adam, on October 19 in France.
