Ukraine and Italy have refused to participate in the establishment of astrophysical space Observatory Gamma-400, which is designed to observe gamma-ray sources in the Universe. It is reported by RIA “Novosti” with reference to the project scientist, senior scientist of the physics Institute Arcadia’per.
The telescope will belong to Russia. The launch of the Observatory is scheduled for 2030.
The’per said that the Italian side had to make to the Observatory part of the device that measures the angle of arrival of the gamma particles. The Ukrainian side had to make equipment that measures the electromagnetic environment, as well as detectors — clear crystals, through which gamma-particle loses energy and it can be measured.
Now these components will be manufactured in Russia.
The project will take part of Belarus, said the’per. In particular, the Belarusian side is ready to make some ground equipment necessary for testing of the Observatory.
Note, the Observatory Gamma-400 will explore the nature of “dark matter” in the Universe.
