    Andy Warhol (real name Andrew Warhol or rather Vargola – Andrew Warhola) was born on August 6, 1928 in Pittsburgh (USA) and was the fourth child in a family of Rusyn immigrants from a village in the Carpathians (now – the territory of Slovakia). Father is a miner, mother is a cleaner and an amateur artist. The whole family of the future star was religious – they became parishioners of the Rusyn Greek Catholic Church in America. Warhol attended liturgies almost daily, and the priest said that Andy was in church almost daily – note this fact.

    Andrew Warhol graduated from the Institute of Technology. Carnegie by profession “artist”. Then everything developed quite logically. What is the formula for the average American? Entrepreneurial immigrant – profitable business – enrichment (American dream). Where should an artist go in order to enrich himself? Of course, in advertising. Where are the most ads? In New York!

    There, our Rusyn takes the American version of the spelling of the name Andy Warhol and quickly achieves fame as an advertising artist. But Andy wanted to move into a different category – creators for eternity.

    The art scene in the 1950s was dominated by American Abstract Expressionist artists such as Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko, and Willem de Kooning. On the wallpaper, their things looked harmonious, but the huge abstract canvases enclosed in frames somewhat annoyed the layman – he did not understand what it was? Another thing – comics – everything is clear there. Therefore, in an effort not to miss the attention of the audience, in the early 1960s, some artists began to transfer the comic style to the canvas – including Andy Warhol.
