On Thursday, December 12, 2024, the Swedish justice system announced, in a press release relayed by RMC Sport, that the proceedings are now closed. The reason is the lack of sufficient evidence against the player. The prosecutor of the case, Marina Chirakova, spoke about this decision.
“During the investigation, one person reasonably suspected of rape and two cases of sexual harassment were identified, but I believe that there is insufficient evidence to continue the proceedings and the investigation is therefore closed. The person named has not been suspected of crime.“
As a reminder, last October, Kylian Mbappé spent a few days in Stockholm with members of his entourage. While the supporters did not understand why he was not at the French team's gathering, we learned that a woman had filed a complaint against him. The justice had opened an investigation for rape and sexual assault in Sweden.
Quickly, the player's entourage had denied and his lawyer had even broached the subject in an interview on TF1. In an interview on Clique by Mouloud Achour this Sunday, December 8, 2024, Kylian Mbappé broke the silence in turn on this rape case. “I didn't receive anything, I don't have a summons. I read the same thing as everyone else in the press.” he had declared, admitting that he didn't feel “concerned“. The footballer had nevertheless specified that he would respond to any eventual summons. The case for Kylian Mbappé is now behind him.
