Lethbridge man charged with first degree murder of his wife
Lethbridge Police found a seriously injured woman who was later pronounced dead on December 27 (on file).
Lethbridge Police Service (SPL) have filed first degree murder charges against a 59-year-old man in connection with the death of his wife.
Police responded to a report involving a man and a woman in a house on 13th Avenue North in Lethbridge shortly after 11 p.m. Tuesday. A man exited the house and was arrested without incident by police as soon as they arrived, according to a police statement released on Thursday.
Once inside residence, the police found a seriously injured woman. The SPL says they began administering first aid until emergency medical services took over when they arrived.
The 59-year-old victim years old received multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation determined that the couple were sitting together in the house when the man took a knife from the kitchen and began to stab the victim repeatedly.
The Lethbridge man is facing one count of first degree murder and has been remanded in custody. He is due in court on January 3, 2023.
