Licey sweeps the Apolo Productions Awards
Mauricio and Váldez won the main awards of the Apolo Productions campaign.
Los Tigres del Licey took three of the four distinctions in the Producciones Apolo awards for their performances in the fall-winter 2022-2023 baseball season.
Ronny Mauricio was chosen as the Most Valuable Player, César Valdez the pitcher of the year, Rainer Núñez the best rookie and José Offerman the manager of the year.
Mauricio, an infielder for the blue team, was selected MVP after leading the league in towed with 31, hit 31 RBIs, and hit the ball. 5 homers (2nd) and .287 batting average (3rd).
The vote was not unanimous because of only one digital vote that received him. Aneudy Tavárez from the Águilas Cibaeñas.
Valdez, starting pitcher for the Tigers, winner of the Triple Crown last season, was the leader in wins with 6. He had 37 strikeouts and a record of 10. he earned an earned run average of 1.51 in 53 and two-thirds innings.
The award was fought over between Roenis Elías and “The Man with the Five Letters”. Valdez received the award. 37 votes, 15 above Cuban Elías who was favored by 22 votes.
Yunesky Maya of the Águilas and Steve Moyers of the Tigres also received votes.
Joseph Offerman led the He helped the Tigers win the regular series for the first time since 2005-2006 after posting a 34-16 record, tying the record for wins in a 50-game season.
Rainer Núñez de las Estrellas, the only winner who does not belong to the Licey, was the leader in home runs in the league with seven. Connected 36 hits in 37 games with 18 RBIs.
