Ligue A: MHSC VB takes back the lead in the championship after its victory on the Nice court

Le bloc des Montpelliérains, dominateurs à Nice. MAXPPP – Frantz Bouton

Men's League A, 18th day, Montpellier regains control thanks to its victory Saturday night in Nice, 3/1. Tourcoing lets a point slip away on its home court, held by Plessis, 3/2. MHSC VB will have another trip to negotiate next Friday in Toulouse before hosting Tours in the Coupe de France on February 4.

Montpellier's defeat in Paris (0-3) is well digested! . Except in the first set where Nice was able to compete with Loïc Le Marrec's team before fading away, the latter perfectly controlled the match to impose itself logically and physically, triggering a new big upheaval at the top of the rankings. Here is Montpellier (who has just found Le Goff), in the leader's chair with 36 points, ahead of Chaumont (36), Tourcoing (35) and Tours (32). There is a lot of chaos at the top and it is probably not over!

A hellish pace

Montpellier did not steal it. If it started a little with restraint, yesterday evening on the court of Palmeira, leaving a little too much freedom to Martilla, Risch, Ah Kong and co. thus the first set to NVB 25-22). It pushed harder then with the trio Palacios, Lopez Pascual and the indispensable Dimitrov (21 points), foot on the accelerator (4-11). Nice ran out of steam without managing to keep up with the imposed pace. A serve out from Hirsch, a counter and an ace from Palacios put an end to the 2nd set (19-25). The Héraultais were just as fast in the 3rd set (18-25). And even more expeditious in the fourth and final 11-15; 15-23 and 17-25 on a flying serve from Mattila. And it is in the top of the class position that Montpellier will host Tours on February 4 in the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France.
