A man assaulted at a “sharp” object” at a bus stop in Gatineau

The facts took place on rue Montcalm, in the Hull sector.

Police officers from the Service de police de la Ville de Gatineau (SPVG) are investigating an armed assault that occurred on Tuesday evening on rue Montcalm, in the Hull sector.

The event occurred shortly before 10 p.m., the SPVG said in a press release on Wednesday morning. The police went to Montcalm Street for an armed assault.

There, they met the victim, a man in his forties, who explained to them that he had been attacked by an individual while he was waiting for his bus at the Montcalm station.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

For no apparent reason, the suspect allegedly hit the victim in the chest with a sharp object and then fled, explained the Gatineau police.

The victim was transported to the x27;hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Police attempted to locate the suspect, but were unsuccessful.

The investigation is continuing to determine the circumstances surrounding this attack. The SPVG invites anyone with information about this event to contact it at 819 243-4636, option 5.

In a statement sent by email, the Société de transport de l'Outaouais (STO) says it takes the situation seriously. The health and safety of customers and employees is a priority for the STO. In this sense, we are working in close collaboration with the City of Gatineau and the Service de police de la Ville de Gatineau and are cooperating fully with the investigations in progress, we can read.
