Man shot dead by police in suburban Toronto
The Unit of Special Investigations is looking into this deadly police action.
Ontario's Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 25-year-old man killed by a police officer in Vaughan.
Police were called to an event center in Vaughan at approximately 11:50 p.m. Sunday after being alerted that ;an armed man was inside.
According to the SIU, there was an interaction between York Regional Police officers and the police. x27;man, and one officers opened fire.
The Unit explains that the officers then administered first aid, and that paramedics took over a few moments later.
The man was taken to hospital by ambulance with serious injuries. He was pronounced dead Monday morning.
Four investigators and two SIU forensic scientists have been assigned to the case, while an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
The SIU has a mandate to investigate when there is serious injury or death during a police action.< /p>
Its investigators ask anyone who might have useful information, in the form of video or photos, to contact them.
