Draft of the “Marriage plus” program

The civic draft introducing the 500 plus benefit for married couples has been submitted to the Sejm. If the deputies do not decide to reject it, it will be processed in the Sejm committees and then in the Sejm.

Those who propose the introduction of the benefit indicate that the 13th and 14th pensions are not sufficient support for Polish seniors. An additional support for seniors would be the marriage plus benefit. It would be available to those couples who can boast of being married for more than 5 decades.

Statistics don't lie

The data of the Central Tax Office are relentless. The number of marriages has been declining in recent years. Last year, 145,000 of them were concluded, which is the lowest result in the last three decades.

As the number of marriages decreases, the number of divorces increases. Only in the second half of last year, as many as 38,662,000 applications for the termination of marriage were submitted to the court. Although the applicants of the aforementioned project want financial support for the longest-serving marriages, some people indicate that it may also become an incentive to stay together.
