Marvel: Disney + has already renewed Loki for a season 2

Marvel's Loki is about to migrate to Disney + in a series entirely dedicated to him and which may already have been renewed. Warning of possible spoilers.

If the Marvel series for the Disney + platform will highlight characters hitherto crushed by the fame of Iron Man, Thor and other Captain America, they should also make them gain popularity, most fans having been there not very interested so far. With the possible exception of Loki , the God of Thunder's half-brother, who has gained great sympathy since Thor: Ragnarok.

The anti-hero finally made his redemption in Infinity War where he was coldly killed by Thanos (Josh Brolin), but all that is in the past, or rather in the future, since we will find the antagonist as we knew him in 2012, when he was trying to enslave Earth using the Tesseract. With the Avengers taking a time jump in Endgame , the supervillain is now on the run and in possession of the gem .

Tom Hiddleston as Loki

As indicated in the official synopsis, the events of the series will pick up just after those of the conclusion of the Infinity Saga and in particular the moment when it escapes in Endgame . Everything suggests that the god of mischief will have fun traveling in time in his turn, sowing trouble everywhere in his path. This would also explain his outfit bearing the inscription TVA (Time Variance Authority), in the teaser unveiled on the occasion of the last SuperBowl.

It is not yet known whether these various spin-offs will be mini-series or will have multiple seasons, but it seems that Loki has no plans to stop his tricks after six episodes. According to a new listing from Production Weekly, Disney has already ordered a second batch with a production start scheduled for January 2022 . The information has not yet been confirmed or denied by Marvel, which should remain silent for a while on the subject.

We may have time to kill before Marvel speaks

On the casting side, the series will introduce as yet unknown characters played by Owen Wilson, Sophia Di Martino, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Richard E. Grant . Actress Sasha Lane ( Utopia Hellboy , American Honey ) also appears to have confirmed her arrival in a previous interview, although she is not credited on IMDb. The series expected for 2021 will be directed by Kate Herron ( Sex Education ) and written by Michael Waldron, the screenwriter of the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness .
