The Mazda MX-30 e-Skyactiv R-EV will be the brand's first vehicle to receive the new rotary engine. It is designed with a focus on economy and can significantly reduce fuel consumption.

Mazda last used rotary engines in the RX-8 sports car, which ceased production in 2012. In early January, it became known about the revival of the iconic engine that made the company famous.
At the Brussels Motor Show, Mazda showed the MX-30 e-Skyactiv R-EV. Its rotary engine was designed with efficiency in mind.
The 830cc gasoline rotary engine with direct injection has a high compression ratio of 11.9:1. It delivers 75 hp. at 4700 rpm and 116 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm. It does not rotate the wheels, but works as a generator for a 167 hp electric motor. and with a torque of 260 Nm to increase the range.
The unique power plant allows you to achieve a range of more than 600 kilometers. The rotary engine is powered by a 50-litre petrol tank mounted directly in front of the rear axle, while a 17.8 kWh lithium-ion battery is mounted in the underbody.
Mazda believes owners of the MX-30 e-Skyactiv R-EV will predominantly use an electric motor. The all-electric range on the WLTP cycle is 85 km.
It takes 1 hour and 40 minutes to fully charge the battery from an 11 kW socket. Charging from 20 to 80 percent using 36 kW DC takes 25 minutes.
The MX-30 e-Skyactiv R-EV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.1 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 140 km/h. The weight of the hybrid crossover is 1703 kilograms. Fuel consumption is just 1 liter per 100 kilometers on the WLTP cycle.
In Germany, the Mazda MX-30 e-Skyactiv R-EV will be sold at a price of 35,990 euros. The top version of Edition R will cost 45,040 euros.
