The virtual reality headset can count on better ergonomics (despite its greater weight), in particular due to the battery – twice as powerful as the previous model – which has been relocated to the back of the headset. Light blockers can also be added to the sides of the device to obtain better results of immersion in the metaverse. In this sense, the headset also uses spatial audio technology.

The camera that shows the real environment around the person wearing the Meta Quest Pro will also be much sharper, offering color and high resolution images, unlike what was offered with the Meta Quest 2 model.

No launch date for the service has been communicated.

Mark Zuckerberg has become the laughingstock of the web in recent months with the legless avatars of his Horizon Worlds metaverse app. Now he announced that virtual characters will soon be entitled to a lower body, in addition to being able to take advantage of several new customization features. Meta's CEO, however, remained unclear on when it would be offered in the metaverse.

This announcement isn't nearly as impressive, however, as his demonstration of a tool his Reality Labs teams are working on, Codec Avatars, which makes avatars more realistic than ever.

With a simple scan of his face making several facial expressions with a smartphone, Meta's software manages to create a virtual replica of himself in a few hours.
