Michel Blanc: “in permanent contact with his doctor”

In the film La Cache, inspiredé from the novel by Christophe Boltanski, Michel Blanc plays a grandfather during the events of May 68. Boltanski's grandfather was a doctor who was afraid of blood. I wanted to work with Michel Blanc because there was in him a form of anxiety, a fascination with medicine and a great hypochondria, explained Lionel Baier in Le Parisien this Tuesday, January 21.

The director continued his directi ;éveillations about the former member of the Splendid troupe: “Just before filming, Michel éwas convinced he had generalized cancer. On set, he was in constant contact with his doctor, he confided.

Michel Blanc “in great shape” in one of his last films

In competition at the Berlin Film Festival starting on February 13, the film La Cache is announced as one of Michel Blanc's last appearances in the cinema. If he remembered a hypochondriac actor to our colleagues from the Parisien, Lionel Baier ensured that he was nevertheless “in great shape” during the filming which took place in the spring of 2024, six months before his death.

Now, the director is struggling to recover from the death of the man who played the eternal Jean-Claude Dusse in Les Bronzés. “In La Cache, Michel Blanc shows something of himself that he has never shown… The last image says everything he was: his simplicity, his music, his poetry…”, he concluded, not without emotion. Michel Blanc will also be at the poster for the comedy called Le Routard by Philippe Mechelen with Hakim Jemili and Christian Clavier, in theaters April 2.
