Netflix wants to air Prince Harry's biography at the same time as 'The Crown'

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have announced the premiere of a documentary about their lives next year.

Netflix wants to air a documentary about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at almost the same time as The upcoming season of The Crown is scheduled to air in November 2022 to get the most out of the project. This is reported by Page Six, citing its sources.

According to the publication, the streaming service wants to do so, despite the claims of the Sussexes that a documentary about their life should not air until next year. And in the fall of 2022, an autobiographical book of Prince Harry is planned. However, Netflix wants to take the opportunity to launch several high-profile projects one after another that will surely cause a stir among the audience.

The Crown, which is not liked by the monarchists, will tell the story of Prince Harry's late mother's difficult relationship in the fifth season and her wife Prince Charles. Princess Diana will be played by Australian actress Elizabeth Debicki, while Dominic West will play the role of Charles.

The series is set in the 1990s. It remains to be seen if the series will feature the death of Princess Diana in a car crash in Paris in 1997.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been known to film the documentary for Netflix for over a year after signing a $100 million deal in 2021 .

“[Netflix executives] knew the book was coming out, so they want the series this year. They don't want to wait any longer,” a Page Six source notes.

According to the information The Daily Mail Netflix lost 950,000 subscribers in the second quarter of 2022. Therefore, the streaming service is in a hurry to launch several projects about the royal family at the same time in order to attract new subscribers amid the hype.

Focus previously said that the royal family was very nervous because of the visit of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in the UK for the anniversary of Elizabeth II. At the Palace, they thought that the Sussexes would bring a Netflix film crew with them and set up a provocation to attract more attention to themselves. And Prince William thought that his conversations with his brother could become part of a documentary.
