Chinese cars continue to break stereotypes and again pleasantly surprised in EuroNCAP crash tests. Models from the Celestial Empire performed better than some modern European-made cars. This is reported by the official website of EuroNCAP.
For testing, we chose Chinese models that are already on sale in Europe or will soon appear there. Crash tests passed the Chery Omoda 5 crossover, the Maxus MIFA 9 minivan, as well as the new MG 4 electric car, which is assembled at a plant in China. All of them received the maximum 5 stars from EuroNCAP.
The new Maxus MIFA 9 performed especially well (it is also sold under the British brand LDV in some countries). The minivan earned 93% for adult protection and 89% for child safety. And Chery Omoda 5 has a high score for safety devices – 88%.
At the same time, a number of European models failed to get 5 EuroNCAP stars. The crossovers Ford Puma and Peugeot 4008, as well as the Volkswagen Touran minivan made it to the Quartet. All three cars have weak protection of the driver's chest, as well as insufficiently effective operation of active safety systems.
This is not the first time that Chinese models receive high marks in EuroNCAP crash tests. Previously, the BYD electric crossover, models from the Great Wall and Geely concerns performed well.
