C and D-class crossovers and sedans will appear in the Lada line. They will be produced in St. Petersburg at the former Nissan plant.
The former Nissan plant in Russia will come under the control of AvtoVAZ. At the plant in St. Petersburg, they plan to start producing new models, and representatives of the Russian automaker do not even hide the fact that these will be Chinese cars with Lada logos. This was reported by the Drom website with reference to the press service of AvtoVAZ.
The new Lada was announced by the head of the company Maxim Sokolov – these will be C and D-class crossovers and sedans. Their assembly is planned to begin in the second half of 2023.
“We will not reveal all the secrets now, until the last they are kept by car manufacturers “under the veil”, but I can say that these cars will be modern, high-quality, with high consumer advantages and with the highest safety standards. They will be produced under the Lada brand and will be produced in those segments that will not compete with the products that are currently produced at the Volzhsky Automobile Plant. We are in the final stage with our partners, as soon as the memorandums are signed, we will immediately present them to the public,” said Maxim Sokolov.
Thus, AvtoVAZ will follow the path of Moskvich, which collects Chinese JACs. Cars come to the Russian Federation ready-made: they just fasten the wheels and glue the logos of the Russian brand.
It is noteworthy that AvtoVAZ announces new models, but at the same time they are not able to resume production of the most expensive Lada. The Vesta sedan and station wagon will return to the assembly line no earlier than the spring of 2023, and the Lada X-Ray crossover has been completely discontinued.
