The famous LuAZ is back — the Ukrainian SUV has decided to be revived in the format of an electric car. The details of an interesting project were revealed on Facebook by its initiator, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Ukrainian Association of Electric Vehicle Market Participants, Vadym Ignatov.
According to him, the development of the car has been going on for almost 5 years. The presentation of the car was decided to coincide with the 55th anniversary of the start of production of the LuAZ-969 “Volyn”.
Vadim Ignatov said that he wanted to create a simple utilitarian car that is easy to repair. It is precisely such a vehicle that small businesses and farmers lack now.
The choice fell in favor of a practical pickup truck, and an electric one – after all, the 21st century is in the yard. Vadim Ignatov has always liked Ukrainian SUVs LuAZ, so the new electric car will be produced under this brand.
So far, there are few details about the new LuAZ – they promise to publish more information later. It is known that the pickup truck will be offered with a two-door and four-door cab. It features an angular design with round headlights in the spirit of the original LuAZ-969.
Most likely, the body panels of the electric car will be made of plastic or composite materials. Also noteworthy is the transformable cargo platform with folding side and rear sides.
The creator of the car said that the Ukrainian pickup truck will receive a very efficient power plant that consumes little electricity – this allows you to install a compact and inexpensive battery.

The war made adjustments – there were problems with the supply of spare parts, because some enterprises were destroyed, others are unstable. In addition, since Lutsk is close to the border with Belarus, it was decided to move production to a safer place.
