A fire broke out at the Mountain B nightclub in eastern Thailand's Chonburi province, killing 13 people and injuring 43. This was reported by the local TV channel Thairath.
Doctors assess the condition of the victims as serious. Police Colonel Wuttipong Somjai told Reuters that the Sattahip fire started around 1:00 a.m. local time, and all of the victims were Thai citizens.
CNN, citing rescuers, said the youngest of the victims was 17 years.

Eyewitnesses of the incident told the TV channel that the fire started on the ceiling and at least 2 explosions were heard. The police lieutenant said that the identity of the owner of the club was identified.

Local musician Rafon Namtam regularly performs at Mountain B on Monday nights. He told CNN that the club opened 2 months ago. DJ ONE, DJ Tiger, and the area's popular youth band Taew Naew performed on the night of the heat.
Namtam noted that among the dead were replacement vocalist and keyboardist Taew Naew, the band's drummer was put on a ventilator.
