Nîmes Olympique: after the infuriating draw (0-0) against Valenciennes, the Crocos' notes

Defender Waly Diouf had a client in the person of striker Oyewusi, but he got away with it. MIDI LIBRE – ALEXIS BETHUNE

Friday January 31, Nîmes, although dominant, could not overcome Valenciennes (0-0). By scraping this point, the Gardois are no longer relegated. Perhaps the most beautiful victory of the evening.

Ngapandouentnbu (5): not really called upon, but knew how to respond when needed, like on this northern corner that he punches, in traffic (36th).

Not unlucky either, on a few northern attempts, accompanying with a glance, apparently beaten, the free kick from Boissier (37th), then the attempt from Traore, still off target (38th).

Is also saved by his crossbar on this header from Oyewusi (63rd). Catches, with a dive, a last cross from Camblan (90th + 2).

Labonne (6): the former Lorient player, whose contract ends next June, showed himself to be rather in “cannes”, especially during the initial act. His acceleration left his opposite number on the spot and his cross, perfect for El Hamri, saw the crocodile striker waste a golden opportunity (8th).

Takes his corridor again and delivers a dangerous cross back for Beneddine (44th). Produced one acceleration too many, stopped in full flight after a sprint (73rd). Supplemented by Sbaï post for post (73rd).

Diouf (6): misses his restart, without consequence however, the northern offensive giving nothing (12th). Clears well, with his head, a dangerous cross from the left (26th) then another, still imperial in the air, from Coeff (65th). Cuts off a final offensive from VA (90th + 5).

Mendy (cap., 6): like his partner in central defense, he generally controlled the situation, little disturbed by a sluggish VA attack. Sometimes played the profession. Solid performance.

Paviot (5): had a little trouble finding his place in this left-back position, before finding his marks. He applied himself to doing what he knew how to do, without going beyond his duties. Diligent and vigilant.

Doukansy (5) :sentinel in front of the defense, cut trajectories on opposing transition. Neither phenomenal, nor inside, ''Douk'' did the job. Author of a good defensive tackle which cuts a northern counterattack (80th). Bouaoune replaced him ten minutes from the end (83rd).

El Hamri (6): for his second start of the season in National, showed willingness, often proposing solutions between the opposing lines. Alone at six meters, he misses his recovery (8th). Makes the right gesture on this left-footed shot, low to the ground, Michel pushing back the danger with a firm hand (26th). Replaced by Amara (83rd).

Mexico (6): was the greatest crocodile animator in midfield, in perpetual motion, to press or recover. His evasive cross in front of the goal found no one (5th).

Must still wonder how he was able to lift his ball too much, alone six meters from the goal, although hindered by Michel, on this goal situation of which he is the origin and this first strike from El Hamri pushed back by the northern goalkeeper (26th).

Launches Labonne in depth, which crosses for Beneddine, who cannot adjust his shot (44th). Still generous and active in the second period.

Picouleau (5): the former Valenciennes player played his game, as usual, even if we did not find the Picouleau of last season, less sharp. Could have been the man of the match if his shot, from the edge of the box, had not grazed Michel's goal (90th + 1).

Beneddine (6) :his cross pass, which breaks an opposing line and puts Mexico in a good position, is a model of the genre (26th). Succeeds in a small number one, entering the area, between three VA defenders, but his shot is well blocked (43rd).

Hesitates too much, again, in an ideal position in the area, taken over by a Valenciennes player (47th). Less visible in the second half, replaced by Camara (69th).

Abdeldjelil (5): in this 4 – 1 – 4 – 1 system, he sometimes found himself alone at the forefront of the crocodile attack, and the fight. Could probably do better in this one-on-one with the VA goalkeeper, Michel, but could not adjust his post, blocked by the former Nîmes goalkeeper (23rd).

In this 4 – 1 – 4 – 1 system, he often found himself alone on the front of the attack, as in this offensive where he was caught in the pincers of three northern defenders (55th). Tries a recovery, a little in the desesperado style, which flies into the sky of the Antonins (82nd).
