Norway is putting its Armed Forces on high alert from 1 November. This was stated by Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stere.

On Monday, October 31, he met with Norwegian Defense Minister Bjorn Arild Gram and Commander-in-Chief of the Norwegian Armed Forces Eirik Kristoffersen. The politicians discussed the security of Norway in connection with the military operations of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine.

“The readiness of the Armed Forces will be strengthened from tomorrow, November 1, in connection with the war in Ukraine and the political situation in Europe caused by it,” — said Jonas Gahr Stere.

For the personnel of the Armed Forces, this means that the tasks and activities will be changed in accordance with the changing priorities.

The Prime Minister also stated that the strengthening of the readiness of the Armed Forces is not a response to the specific threat of Norway and emphasized that there is no reason to believe that Russia wants to directly invade Norway or another country.

“We are doing this to make sure that Norway is well prepared and able to act in the most serious security situation that we clashed over several decades,” Stere said.

In turn, the commander-in-chief of the Norwegian Armed Forces said that the Norwegian Navy will increase maritime patrols, according to him, the tension will continue for at least one year.

< p>Focus also wrote that an airport was closed in Norway after a drone was spotted nearby. The appearance of the drone was preceded by the arrests of at least seven Russian citizens who launched the UAV or photographed secret objects in Norway.
