Ocean Viking (“Viking ocean”) a non-governmental organization SOS Mediterranee (“SOS Méditerranée”)can go into a Sicilian port on Monday. On the ship are 180 migrants,including 25 children and a pregnant woman, which volunteers slept in the open sea in late June. In the port of Porto Empedocle will redirect passengers to another vessel for quarantine.
“We are all in astonii heavy stress due to the circumstances. These workers lived in terrible conditions in Libya, when they arrived here the ship, they were already weakened,” says managing Director of SOS Mediterranee Sophie Bo.
Previously, the Ocean Viking crew declared emergency — six migrants tried to commit suicide because of the ban of the authorities of Italy and Malta to disembark many of the passengers behaved aggressively towards others. After the statement volunteers the Italian authorities sent to the ship of the doctor and the mediator in the negotiations. Migrants will be tested for the coronavirus.
