One million games sold for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from Tribute Games studio

Each character in the game has their own strengths.

The Montreal studio Tribute Games honored the Quebec video game industry this week: its video game Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge, released on June 16, sold 1 million copies in its first week, according to the publisher.

The title, published by Dotemu (Street of Rage 4), was also voted Favorite Game of the Month for June by readers of the PlayStation Blog. On Steam, Internet users give it a rating of 92% appreciation.

It's an honor to see so many people who share our love of Turtles! A million copies sold in the first week, that deserves a pizza night with tube toppings! Thanks again to you, everywhere in the world and in Dimension X!, reacted Tribute Games on social networks.

Shredder's Revengebrings together, among others, the four pizza-loving Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael. The game borrows a side-scrolling (beat'em-up) fighting style that was very popular in the 80s.

Tribute Games has made its mark over the years with its retro style and confident nostalgia. Its catalog of video games is well pixelated and only presents two-dimensional titles, far from AAA (video game blockbusters).

This version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is no exception: character aesthetics pick up on the 1987 TV series and pay homage to the brand's classic games, including 1991's Turtles in Time, depending on the publisher.

Players can execute drastic combos to defeat opponents, described on the Tribute Games website, and each character has their own abilities.

The Montreal studio also relies on more modern game mechanics. For example, you can launch part of the game in local cooperative mode, of course, but also online with up to six people.

The game Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge is available on PC as well as Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles.
