Opening of mountain bike trails at Mount Hatley

Bike park Hatley stands out by offering more technical mountain bike trails.

Since Thursday, mountain bike enthusiasts can enjoy four new trails at Mount Hatley, in Estrie.

These new Vélo parc Hatley trails have few obstacles, aimed at the more technical aspect of mountain biking. For the vice-president of VMC trails, Jean-François Deshaies, these five kilometers of trails will appeal to fans of jumps and tricks, an increasingly strong demand.

It is sure that there was a big lack in terms of supply for Sherbrooke and around Sherbrooke. The popularity of mountain biking has been steadily increasing in the last 10 or 20 years. And there, there was a big increase with the COVID. It tripled the number of people doing it and the offer did not follow.

Mount Hatley offers mountain bike trails for fans of jumps and tricks.

Moreover, the administrators do not intend to limit themselves to these first few trails. They plan to build several more, while setting themselves apart from the existing options.

We're going to try to get technical stuff that we see a little less of elsewhere. The goal is to find something complementary with what we find on the other trails, whether Orford, Bromont, Sutton, East Hereford, Coaticook, he adds, enthusiastic.

This different formula seems to appeal to mountain bike enthusiasts, like Steven, an enthusiast, who says he likes to get out of his comfort zone.

It's a change from roots and wet rocks, so we do a bit of worked trails. It's really fun, I'm happy with it. I was waiting for that moment to go somewhere other than Bromont too, to make a change, he says, between two trails on Mount Hatley.
