Brigitte Macron and Didier Deschamps were received this Wednesday at the parents' house of the CHU, opened last September. An achievement that the Pièces jaunes operation, currently underway for its 2025 campaign, co-financed to the tune of 600,000 euros, or half of the investment.
In the large communal living room, Sharon wanders around with a smile and Lara in her arms. Her little girl, born prematurely, was cared for for several weeks by the neonatology department of the Arnaud-de-Villeneuve hospital while her parents, Sharon and Lohan, who live near Saint-Chinian, were housed for a month and a half at the parents' house located at Plan des Quatre-Seigneurs.
A decisive financial support
This Wednesday, Sharon introduced Lara to Brigitte Macron and Didier Deschamps and was able to testify to the crucial importance of this solidarity accommodation system. Initiated by the Guilhem fund of the CHU, managed by the La Pasquière association, the parents' house opened its doors in September 2024 and has ten rooms for families with a child in hospital. This investment of €1.20 million was financed for around half, €600,000, by the Hospital Foundation through the Pièces jaunes call for projects.

Hence the presence this Wednesday afternoon of the two personalities, the president of the Foundation, Brigitte Macron and the sponsor of the operation Didier Deschamps. The duo kicked off the 2025 campaign in Bordeaux a week ago and are continuing to visit establishments that have benefited from the collection. “In 2024, we collected €5 million, including €1 million in small change. It's a popular operation, accessible to all, which also teaches children about philanthropy. That's why I'm so keen on piggy banks” observes Anne Barrère, the co-president and founder of the Foundation 36 years ago.
The operation continues until February 8
The Yellow Coins operation runs until February 8. This is the 36th edition of this collection embodied in particular by Bernadette Chirac. “450 hospitals have benefited from funding. 9,800 projects have been carried out “goods including 75 parents' houses, 125 teenagers' houses and 3,000 parent-child rooms,” says Anne Barrère, co-president of the Hospitals Foundation. In Occitanie, Operation 2024 has supported 10 projects for a total amount of 284,000 euros.
“We need more”
“Parents are all raving about the parents' houses. We need more, so that every family with a child in hospital can benefit from them. It is important to be on the ground to meet these families, these teenagers, these children. Solidarity must be there” soberly commented the coach of the French football team, particularly in demand. “We saw parents of premature babies, adolescents, transplant patients, they all said that it is the house here that allows them to overcome the ordeal” resumed the wife of the Head of State.
Led by the director of the CHU Anne Ferrer, Brigitte Macron and Didier Deschamps were also able to speak for a few moments with Amaria Baghdadli, professor of the CHU, specialist in child psychiatry on the issues of mental health of young people. The beginnings of a future new partnership ?
