Vigilance orange rain and flooding in six departments, what are the forecasts?

After Jura, Ain, Isère, Drôme and Ardèche, the Alpes-Maritimes were also affected. placed on orange rain-flood alert by Météo-France.

An active "rainy-stormy episode from the Cévennes to the middle Rhône valley, and the Jura" is being held this Monday, October 23 since the beginning of the evening in five departments in the east of the country. It will continue until midday, Tuesday October 24, in these departments as well as in a sixth, warns Météo-France. Since 9 p.m. Monday evening, the following have been affected: Jura, Ain, Isère, Drôme and Ardèche. À From midnight, the Alpes-Maritimes will also be placed on orange rain-flood alert. À note that Ardèche is faced with an orange flood alert, in addition to the rain-flood vigilance therefore.

According to Météo-France, we must be extra vigilant because this intense rain-storm phenomenon risks being accompanied by significant amounts of precipitation over a short period of time. e: between 80 and 120 mm in the six departments on alert, it is therefore the equivalent of three weeks, or even a month of rain which could fall in a few hours. À At 9:30 p.m., Monday evening, Météo-France estimated that it was "already" fallen very occasionally 50  70 mm in 1 hour (between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m.) on the Ardèche. Precipitation could still be heavy in Ardèche and Ain, with more than 120 mm of rain expected locally, according to La Chaine Méetéo  and Météo-France. As for the Alpes-Maritimes, "the context is favorable to “the formation of not very mobile storms Tuesday morning”, estimates Météo-France which affirms that "70" 100 mm" Precipitation could fall "in a short time" locally.

Rain, but also wind and storms

If the Ain, the #39;Ardèche, Drôme, Isère, Jura, and Tuesday the Alpes-Maritimes, are the only departments on orange alert, 23 others are on yellow alert Monday evening , mostly for thunderstorms. Some are also concerned by yellow alertness to the wind. This is the case for Puy-de-Dôme, Loire, Haute-Loire, Cantal, Lozère, Allier and even Rhône.  Tuesday, 15 departments will still be on yellow alert, this time often for rain-flooding and/or thunderstorms, but also for floods.
