Television host Pascal Bataille has lung cancer. The presenter spoke about the launch of a screening program. He also gave an update on his health. Indeed, a program on lung cancer screening has just been announced by the National Cancer Institute. Pascal Bataille, himself suffering from lung cancer at the end of 2024, hailed the initiative on BFMTV.

The sooner (doctors) find, and the more likely you are to be treated well, effectively and to recover. Let's stop being in denial, let's get tested.Let's take advantage of what the French health system – which is extraordinary, many countries do not have it – makes available to us. Let's take advantage of these new screenings which, I hope, are becoming generalized for lung cancer as for other forms of disease and let's go for it without fear. Because the sooner we do it, the more likely we are to survive.”

A delay in the treatment of Pascal Bataille's cancer

Laurent Fontaine's duo on the show Y'a que la vérité qui compte announced that he had lung cancer at the beginning of last December. If he “ét very well cared for and taken care of” by the doctors, Pascal Bataille evokes a delaytaken on the care process. The presenter would have liked to have been able to benefit from the early screening system. “Me, it took 9 months to diagnose this cancer, which during this time &evolved.”

Indeed, the care was long. “Because at the start, I was given small tests, including an X-ray. And unfortunately, on lung X-rays, often you can't see the tumors. We were in denial for several more months.” explains Pascal Bataille. “We thought it was long Covid, then reflux… all these possibilities could have been ruled out much faster,if there had been early screening programs like we do for other cancers, such as breast or colon cancer.”

The presenter gives an update

“The problem with lung cancer is that it is very often asymptomatic.” Pascal Bataille says. He also gave an update on his health. “Immunotherapy and chemotherapy have given a response positive, we are still waiting for some results but in any case (the doctors) are very optimistic.” explains Pascal Bataille after his operation. “I was removed the lower lobe of the right lung (…) I am very happy with this operation and the convalescence is going wonderfully.”

The host remains positive. “I am not yet out of the woods. Cancer is a vicious disease. Which can come back. But I remain extremely optimistic and positive.” He also mentioned Charcot's disease. The ambassador of the association for research on Charcot's disease is calling for donations for research against this disease. “It is an incurable disease today60~/strong>, as lung cancer was barely 20 years ago. And the progress we have made on lung cancer, we can make on Charcot's disease.”
