Play video games (quickly) for a good cause in August

NoReset Speedrun invites video game enthusiasts to Pointe-Claire at the beginning of x27;August to see around sixty players finish tables as quickly as possible for a good cause. The goal: to raise $15,000 for the Virtual Guardians Foundation (FGV), which helps Internet users in psychological distress on video game platforms.

This is the first time that the Quebec video game event company NoReset Speedrun has held a 100% independent event. Until now, it had always been associated with other video game events.

This cause is that of the Virtual Guardians Foundation, which will break the ice:

The Foundation recently launched a crowdfunding campaign with La Ruche to raise $60,000 to set up Quartier.Québec, a virtual meeting space dedicated to young people aged 14 to 25. If the goal is achieved, it will garner matching financial support from the government.

Three-day marathon features fast-paced races of classic games like Mario Kart 64 and Donkey Kong Country 2, such as newer games, including Resident Evil Village, with a player estimated time of 1:42 KatLink. A four-team race in the game's co-op modeTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge, designed by Montreal studio Tribute Games, is also on the schedule.

Video sprint athletes take advantage of development bugs, secret attacks as well as combinations on the controller and other tricks in order to gain speed.

Players are invited to bring their own console to the event, whether to play for fun or even to register for improvised tournaments. An Arcade area is also planned, with kiosks and small displays of video game collectibles.

Those who want to take a screen break can start games board games.

The NoReset Speedrun Stand-Alone Expansion video sprint event will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Pointe-Claire on August 5, 6 and 7, without interruption. The full weekend schedule and tickets can be found on the organization's website.
