Poker Face: Rian Johnson wants to bring back an actress from Knives Out in his series
Rian Johnson already has plans for Season 2 of Poker Face and knows which actress he would like to see opposite his heroine played by Natasha Lyonne.
Poker Face is Rian Johnson's first attempt at a serial format. And for his debut, the gentleman decided to play both on familiar ground while renewing himself. This is why the production will illustrate police investigations of the howcatchem genre (a plot in which we witness the murder from the start and where we discover at the same time the identity of the killer). The filmmaker behind At Knives Out and Glass Onionso drop the whodunit in an attempt to revive the Columbo trend.
If the second trailer forPoker Face still made you want to discover Charlie Cale's business, the director on stage is already thinking about season 2 and the potential guest stars to confront its main heroine played by Natasha Lyonne. And among the wide choice of actors, the gentleman behind Star Wars: The Last Jedi wants to find an actress who has already filmed for him in Knives Out.
In an exclusive interview reserved for Screen Rant, Johnson revealed that he really wanted to 'involve Jamie Lee Curtis in his series, and for good reason:
“For season 2, I never want to say names out loud because I don't want to jinx it. There are so many different people. If I could convince Jamie Lee Curtis to participate in one of them, I would without hesitation. [One] of his first [roles] was in an episode of Columbo. Google it. She has a great scene with Peter Falk in the restaurant, where she plays a waitress. »
Again, the little genius intends to do an umpteenth nod to the material from which it is inspired (among the myriads of others that risk swarming in each episode). To see now how far the reference will be pushed, but we can imagine finding the actress in a role similar (or even the same) to the one she held in the lieutenant's investigation.
Johnson recently revealed that Natasha Lyonne played herself, dressed to shoot Poker Face, in her cameo in Glass Onion (needs to follow). This could therefore be the perfect opportunity to link (once again) the series with the investigations of Benoit Blanc (and glimpse a potential crossover in the future). Jamie Lee Curtis could thus resume his character of Linda Drysdale after the events of Knives Out since the two franchises are part of the same universe.
As for the rest, for now, we will have to settle for the first salvo of guest stars (Adrien Brody, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jameela Jamil, Tim Blake Nelson, Nick Nolte, Ron Perlman, Judith Light, Hong Chau, Tim Meadows, Cherry Jones, Chloë Sevigny and so many more), the first four episodes of which are due January 26, 2023 on Peacock in the United States (and the rest will follow on a weekly basis every Thursday). On the other hand, we still don't have a release in France unfortunately.
