When developing the Porsche Cayenne at the beginning of the 21st century, the possibility of creating several different versions of the model was considered – an elongated seven-seat modification, a coupe-crossover, and even an off-road convertible. Of these, only the last one was embodied in metal in 2002.

The Porsche Cayenne convertible retained the dimensions of a standard crossover, but at the same time became a two-door. The car became lower, and its roof line was made more sloping.

The soft folding top mechanism was borrowed from the Porsche 911 Targa, that is, the roof of the car is sliding and the rear pillars remain. The interior of the Porsche Cayenne has not changed and is the same as the regular model.

The convertible was built on the basis of the top Porsche Cayenne Turbo with a 4.8-liter turbocharged V8 with 450 hp. With. However, in the end, the car remained a prototype, which could not even drive itself. The avant-garde model was not put into production and is now stored in the storerooms of the Porsche Museum.
