The media circulated the information that tablets with potassium iodide were delivered to fire brigades in our country. Michał Dworczyk was asked on Thursday in the First Program of Polish Radio whether this is related to threats from Russia to use nuclear weapons and whether an increase in radiation radiation is expected.

The head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister confirmed that it was actually decided to distribute potassium iodide tablets to all voivodeships, but there was nothing extraordinary in this. “This is a standard procedure that should be followed” – emphasized Dworczyk, adding that a responsible government must be ready for all scenarios, regardless of their reality.

He added that during the hostilities in Ukraine, we had already dealt several times with shelling at nuclear power plants located at our western neighbors. The message from the National Atomic Energy Agency is also reassuring, which after the recent shelling of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, announced that there was no “radiation threat”.
