In the Constitution of the USSR was laid “time bomb” – a provision on the right of Union republics to secede from the United States, said the President of Russia Vladimir Putin in interview to TV channel “Russia 1”.
Even in the formation of the Soviet Union, Putin said, “was enshrined in Lenin’s thesis on the right of Union republics to secede from the United States.” Stalin adhered to a different point of view, “talked about the need for autonomy of national associations on their entry into the Russian Federation on the rights of autonomy”.
But, according to Putin, “in the end was implemented Lenin’s idea”, which “wandered from the Constitution in the Constitution of the Soviet period, but was not told to another was not spelled out the procedure of secession from the Union.”
As a result, the Republic, which is not “here”, could secede from the USSR, and “dragged along” with a “gifts from the Russian people.”
“This is a time bomb, laid in 1922, with the formation of the Soviet Union. Of course, such things we must avoid,” – said Putin.
The head of the Federation believes that the Constitution should be the norm about inviolability of borders and the “impossibility of the rejection of our territories”. To do this, and it was necessary to amend the existing Constitution.
“I am absolutely convinced that we are right to accept the amendments to the current Constitution. They will strengthen our state, to create conditions for the progressive development of our country for decades to come,” – said Putin.
We will remind that amendments to the Russian Constitution proposed by President of Russia Vladimir Putin in the beginning of 2020. To the list of amendments later added zeroing of presidential terms, allowing Putin to run for another term.
On 1 July ended in a vote in which, according to the CEC voted 77,92% of voters, against – of 21.27%. July 3, Putin signed a decree on introducing amendments to the Constitution.
