Québec Tramway: the trains will be assembled at La Pocatière

Quebec City agrees with Alstom for the delivery of equipment tram driver.

Quebec's future tramway

After months of negotiations, an agreement was finally reached between the City of Quebec and the company Alstom for the delivery of the tramway rolling stock. The trains will be fully assembled at the La Pocatière plant.

This is an important step in the procurement process for the tramway project.

Since last October, the City of Quebec had undertaken negotiations by mutual agreement with the French group Alstom in the wake of the withdrawal of the only other bidder for the rolling stock, the German company Siemens.

The Marchand administration confirms that an agreement has been reached to the satisfaction of the parties.

According to a decision-making summary adopted by the executive committee, only minor adaptations must still be completed before the signature and closing of the contract and publication of the final price of the proposal.

Alstom confirms for its part that the tram trains will be designed at the company's headquarters in St- Bruno-de-Montarville and assembled at the La Pocatière plant.

Alstom is very proud to have been chosen by the City of Quebec as the preferred bidder and partner for this signature mobility for the Capitale-Nationale region, says Vice-President of Communications for the Americas, Michelle Stein.
