Racer and Verizon present the Racer Edge 5G, portable 'gaming' device

Razer, the brand specialized in lifestyle for gamers, together with Verizon, have presented the Razer Edge. It is a console powered by the latest Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 chip, running on Verizon 5G Ultra Wideband. In the words of Richard Hashim, head of the M  vile & Razer Consoles: “We have created the total portable gaming platform together with Verizon and Qualcomm, capable of taking on existing game portfolios and taking them anywhere with near zero latency.”

Mobile game

The Razer Edge 5G isn't limited by wires or Wi-Fi from previous generations, and features 5G ultra-wideband connectivity for greater possibilities on the go. With this type of network, gamers don't need to be connected to their home network or endlessly searching for a reliable Wi-Fi hotspot when away from home. “With the Razer Edge 5G and Verizon Ultra Wideband, the gamer will have in your hands is a complete mobile gaming system with a reliable connection that can push up to a gigabyte of download speeds, with very little lag & rdquor ;, said Brin Higgins, senior vice president of devices and Verizon consumer products. 


The device integrates thousands of compatible AAA games, whether they are native Android or pre-installed releases such as Epic Games (Fortnite and Rocket League Sideswipe), “cloud streaming” like Xbox Cloud Gaming (beta) and Nvidia GeForce Now, or remote gaming options that offer full access to PC game libraries like Steam Link, Moonlight, and Parsec.

The equipment offers optimal performance and fidelity from its 6.8” AMOLED screen, with a refresh rate of 144hz at an FHD+ resolution of 2400×1080, which provides 87% more pixels than other products on the market.

Console control

The Razer Edge 5G comes with the Razer Kishi V2 Pro that features Razer's award-winning technologies, as well as the Razer Kishi V2 Pro. Like customization options and features of the Kishi V2 mobile controller, but with 2 additions: Razer HyperSense, Razer's haptic technology, and a 3.5mm minijack audio port. Microswitches on the face buttons and D-pad provide instant feedback and actuation for console-quality controller in a handheld gaming rig.

The Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 chip, designed from the ground up to provide superior performance on the Android platform, features a 3Ghz 8-core Kryo CPU with an Adreno GPU designed for quality graphics and excellent performance per watt.

Early benchmark tests show that the Snapdragon G3x Gen 1 runs at speeds 2-3x faster than standard mobile platforms like the Snapdragon 720G. The AMOLED screen is simultaneously optimized for efficient power consumption, allowing you to enjoy long gaming sessions with a 5000mAh capacity battery. 

Scheduled for release in January 2023, the Razer Edge 5G will bring a new horizon for 5G portable gaming.
