Jaguar XK120 half a century stood half-dismantled in the garage after an unsuccessful restoration. However, its engine started almost immediately and runs very smoothly.
A rare 1953 Jaguar XK120 sports car has been found in the US. The car has not been on the road for more than 50 years and has been abandoned all this time. The find was described in a video on the Carchaeology Youtube channel.
It turned out that in 1970 or 1971, this Jaguar XK120 coupe was decided to be restored and dismantled for this. However, for some unknown reason, the owner abandoned the restoration and did not complete it.
The half-disassembled car was left standing in the garage. Fortunately, the conditions there were good and the Jaguar was well preserved. Moreover, after half a century of inactivity, the sports car engine started up after minor manipulations in the workshop. The 3.4-liter inline-six runs very smoothly even now.
Now the restoration of the Jaguar XK120 will finally be completed. The model is very rare and highly valued by collectors. A total of 12,045 XK120s were produced between 1948 and 1954, of which only 2,672 were coupes.
The Jaguar XK120 is also notable for being the fastest production car of its time. In 1949, a 160-horsepower sports car set a world speed record – 200.5 km/h. It was with this model that the British brand loudly declared itself and became famous in the world.
