The use of the Western raspberry can reduce the inflammation associated with skin allergies. These data were obtained in the framework of a new study conducted on mice and published in the journal Nutrients.
Scientists have discovered that a diet with a high content of Western raspberry reduces inflammation and contact hypersensitivity.
“Often used for the treatment of steroids applied directly to the skin,” — says Steve Okumu, senior author and associate Professor of pathology at the Ohio state University. “Surprisingly, consumption of the berries allowed to achieve the same effect.”
The researchers put a group of mice a diet that include raspberries, in the amount equivalent to one serving a day for men. The control group was fed the same diet without the inclusion of raspberries.
Three weeks after starting the diet, the researchers subjected one of the ears of each mouse to irritating substances that cause contact hypersensitivity. Then they measured the reduction of edema by comparing the ears of each mouse.
They found that mice that were fed raspberries Western, there’s less swelling compared to mice in the control group.
