The Senate of the Czech Republic decided on recognition of the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as genocide of the Ukrainian people. This was announced by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on his Twitter page.

The Ukrainian leader expressed gratitude to the Czech partners and stressed that the Russian Federation would not be able to avoid responsibility for its actions.

“I welcome the decision of the Czech Senate to recognize the Holodomor as a genocide of Ukrainians. I am grateful to my Czech friends for asserting the truth and restoring historical justice. Punishment for all the past and current crimes of Russia is inevitable,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote.

The issue of recognizing the Holodomor as genocide will also be considered in the European Parliament. The corresponding meeting is scheduled for December 15.

“Statement of the commission – 90 years after the Holodomor: recognition of mass murder due to hunger as genocide,” the announcement says.
