The compact and affordable Toyota Stout pickup will be built on the RAV4 crossover platform. Its main competitors will be Ford Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruz.
There is new information about the most compact pickup Toyota. An inexpensive model will appear in 2025 and will be called Stout – in honor of a small pickup truck produced in the 50-80s. This became known to the journalists of the Australian website The Drive.
If the original Toyota Stout was a frame, then the modern model will receive a load-bearing body. The leadership of the Japanese concern saw the success of the Ford Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruz pickups built on the basis of crossovers, and decided to create a competitor to them.
The pickup will be created on the TNGA platform, that is, the Toyota RAV4 crossover will become its relative. The length of the car will be about 5 m, that is, it will be noticeably more compact than the frame Toyota Hilux and Tacoma.
The design of the car can be designed in the spirit of the Toyota Compact Cruiser concept car. The engines will obviously be borrowed from the RAV4, which means the Toyota pickup will get a 2.5-liter petrol four, as well as hybrid installations. The starting price will be just over $20,000.
Toyota has promised to reveal more details about the upcoming model in the summer of 2023. That's when the first concept car may appear.
