Roberto Stéa is a candidate for the Conservative Party of Quebec in Duplessis.

Roberto Stéa will represent the colors of the Conservative Party of Quebec (PCQ) in the riding of Duplessis in the next provincial election.

C& #x27;is the very first candidate announced in this eastern Côte-Nord riding so far.

PCQ leader Éric Duhaime traveled to Sept-Îles on Tuesday to make the announcement.

Éric Duhaime is in Sept-Îles to announce his candidate, Roberto Stéa.

For Roberto Stéa, a 55-year-old from Septilien, who currently works at Hydro-Québec, this candidacy is a leap into politics.

Mr. Stéa completed his university studies in geography and planning in Chicoutimi. During his career, he has worked for the Société du Plan Nord, on the maritime service of the Lower North Shore and Anticosti Island, at the SADC, at the association regional tourist office (ATR), as a federal government official in the field of economic development and he also worked for the Montagnais Economic Development Corporation (CDEM).

Roberto Stéa hopes to put control of their resources, such as products from the St. Lawrence, back in the hands of the North Shore people.

“It's not normal today that in Sept-Îles […] we say to the joke that you have to take out your RRSPs to have a good crab supper with your family.

Curbing the exodus of young people from the region and improving road access to the Côte-Nord are also part of the candidate's objectives.

He maintains good relations with indigenous communities in the region. I also want to represent Indigenous nations, he said during his announcement at the Disco Flash convention center in Sept-Îles.

Éric Duhaime took a moment after the announcement of his candidate to answer questions from citizens. A few of them have expressed concern over their representation in the National Assembly.

If elected, one of Roberto's goals Stéa is to make the riding of Duplessis in the Blue Room better known, a riding that he considers to be a vast riding that is unknown.

The announcement was made at the Disco Flash convention center in Sept-Îles.

In addition, following a question from a citizen, the leader of the PCQ affirmed that he supports the construction of a bridge at the mouth of the Saguenay River.

“It's not normal that you don't have a connection directly with the rest of Quebec. »

Éric Duhaime is hopeful that the PCQ will make inroads in Duplessis, a riding that has been held by the Parti Québécois ( PQ) in recent years.

For his part, Roberto Stéa invites the people of the North Shore to vote in the next provincial election. In the last elections, he is sorry to see that the participation rate was 55%.

“I would like to ask people to exercise their right to vote, it is very important. »

Current PQ member for Duplessis, Lorraine Richard, announced last January that she would not stand for re-election. The chosen one had then announced that she was fighting cancer.

No candidate has been named to the PQ to replace her.

For their part, the Coalition avenir Québec, the Liberal Party of Quebec and Quebec solidaire have not announced a candidacy in the riding of Duplessis at this time.
