Russia calls to block YouTube again

Russian businessman and founder of PMC Wagner Yevgeny Prigozhin, also known as “Putin's chef”, has asked the Prosecutor General to inspect YouTube and consider recognizing the American company Google LLC as “undesirable” in the Russian Federation.

According to Prigozhin, after Russia's full-scale attack on Ukraine, a “full-scale information war” unfolded against the Russian Federation, in which “disinformation and negative attitudes introduced with the help of YouTube” are allegedly actively used.

The statement says that YouTube is allegedly spreading fakes, publishing Russophobic content, calling for the overthrow of power in Russia, and so on.

According to chef Putin, there are “worthy analogues of YouTube” in Russia – VK, Rutube, Odnoklassniki and Zen.


He also called on the prosecutor's office to restrict access to YouTube.

“The outrage of Russians about why Roskomnadzor has not yet blocked YouTube, where they are openly humiliated and insulted, continues to grow. People they are worried that all this Russophobic content can be seen by their children. Times call for tougher measures, as the imposed fines did not stop these egregious violations,” Prigozhin emphasizes in a special address.
