Russia and Iran sign memorandum on energy for $40 billion


Russia and Iran signed a $40 billion energy memorandum

on the development of gas and oil fields, as well as the completion of projects for the supply of LNG.

The Russian gas monopolist Gazprom and the national Iranian oil company NIOC have signed a memorandum of understanding. We are talking about projects worth about $ 40 billion, Shana news agency reported on Tuesday, July 19.

The deal was concluded as part of an online ceremony, which was attended by Deputy Chairman of Gazprom Vitaly Markelov and head of NIOC Mohsen Heustemer.

Planned projects include the development of the Kish and North Pars gas fields, the pressurization of the South Pars field, the development of six oil fields, the completion of liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply projects and the construction of gas export pipelines.

Recall that on July 18-19, a trilateral summit is being held in Tehran, in which the leaders of Iran, Turkey and Russia take part.
